“Sometimes, things are harder in your head than in real life.”

[A comment from one of the young people after an event yesterday.]

Last night was the final session of a ‘Pre-Employability Skills’ course I’ve been running at a local youth centre.

In the course, we talked about mindset, resilience, teamwork and communication - how they are core life skills, and how they relate to the world of work.

For the final session, the young people were joined by some local business people for a speed networking session, which, it turns out [see quote above!] was more enjoyable than perhaps the young people anticipated!

Aside from the personal and individual development, for me, events like this are a critical part of how we build connections and community - how we bring people from different backgrounds together, to learn from and about each other. For the young people, maybe they realised that ‘business people’ aren’t as scary as they thought - and the business people get a glimpse of the drive and potential that is out there…

If you’d be interested in running - or attending - a course like this, feel free to contact me.
